ok, I bought the same camera you have before Christmas..I have no lenses except the basic 18-55 I bought with it. What's this lens good for?? I know nothing and I would like to take classes on it as well!! love the camera though!
Hey Nadia, I have the 18-55 as well. It is a basic lens that I think most people use for everyday pics. The 50mm f1.8 is good for when you want the background to be blurry and the subject to stand out. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have an auto focus, so you have to do it manually.

hmm, I'll have to look into one of those. I'm just waiting for summer to take the kids and photograph them until they tie me up and throw me overboard LOL. this is a look I'll be wanting for some of the shots..did you buy it at mcbain? ever buy anything like this of the net? I'm wondering about buying lenses online..I bought my UV filter to protect my lens mostly from e-bay..it was 80 some odd dollars at mcbain and 32 CAD including shipping online.
